In addition to other fitting tools like EveFit and the tools on Evegeek, check out PyFa. It’s a good looking cross-platform ship fitting tool with some particularly helpful graphs to realize your ship fit profiles.
Might be worth it to have a ship fit tryout night where we shoot at each other a bit to see the results of our fits.
Massively.com has a good little article on PvE mission grouping in Eve Online. Many of you will recognize the tactics they discuss but it’s a nice overview of group missioning in Eve.
While a lot of EVE’s combat PvE encounters can be completed solo, they tend to take significantly less time in a group. With an older player tanking in an appropriately sized ship for the encounter, all other pilots in the group are free to fit high-damage setups to speed things up. Working as a team, a good group can fit many more level 4 missions into the space of an hour than all the pilots involved could do on their own. The added ability to take newer players along in damage-dealing cruisers or battlecruisers makes this a profitable and enjoyable group bonding exercise for corporations…. read whole article
Some members expressed an interest in scanning and exploration. I ran across a great tutorial video for exploration and probes from CCP and posted it in our links. I’m also embedding it here. Enjoy.
Anyone who has been playing for awhile will no doubt have noticed that ganking, pirating, bullying or whatever you want to call it is common-place in eve. Arguably it’s what the game is geared toward.
If you’re intrested in knowing some of their tools of the trade or tactics you can check out these short Eveopedia entries.
Massively posted a good article summarizing the various macro economic factors driving the market in Eve Online. I have to agree overall with the summary in the article and would further point out that the in game market continues to edge toward a bit of ruin. I don’t hear it addressed in many places outside of forum rants that the general hording inside the game may have made a mineral market recovery almost impossible for the foreseeable future. One of the major problems in my opinion is the market was never intended to be a market, though I’m sure the designers think it was. Instead the market has always been designed to try to drive PvP and the essentially the whole game is designed to drive PvP. This is neither good nor bad but it does undermine the credibility of changes to the economy painted as strictly based on market theory. The constant subscript of any change in Eve will always been how it drives PvP.
Everyone be advised that Hulkageddon III is scheduled for July 9th – July 18th 2010 so fly carefully if you have one and if at all possible avoid flying a Hulk during that time. See the event link for details but essentially it’s a mass ganking of miners that happens all over Empire Space.
Also note that the general slide in mineral prices is expected to continue but will likely rise after Hulkageddon so if you have mineral or ore you’re sitting on, you could increase your return a bit by waiting until after the event to sell again.
I’ve noticed the last week that Rancer has been very active with coordinated pirate activity. They’re covering most gates and transfer points so be advised to use caution when traveling through this region. Also be advised they are spread out so it’s a good opportunity for hit and run raids on these pirates and Red targets abound.
I’ve posted a recruitment thread on the main Eve Online forums for our corporation. It’s likely our membership will stay small and growth somewhat slow given our membership requirements and segmentation but I want to throw a net out in hopes of catching other experienced players who may have drifted around looking for a good corp and would be a good fit for us. Players much like myself.
Until we decide for different times we’ll initiate weekly mining operations near our HQ from about 8pm-10pm following the Simple Collective Mining with Payout
Check your in game or evegate calendar once you’re in the corp for more details and scheduling.
